THE CONCEPT OF ATOMIC ENERGY PAVILION AT VDNKh

The concept of the atomic energy pavilion at VDNKh was carried out as part of an international architectural competition commissioned by the state corporation Rosatom.

The task of the competition was to form not only an actual exhibition space, not just a repository of monuments and documents, but, first of all, a communication platform that would provide a wide audience with the availability of objective information about the achievements, history and current state of the nuclear industry.

The concept of the pavilion, carried out by MIL, is based on combining many exhibition and educational spaces into a single volume filled with interactive and multimedia tools for interacting with visitors.

The key element of the concept – the neuromatrix – is a multi-level coworking space consisting of four cylindrical volumes connected by horizontal levels and uniting conference rooms, studios, classrooms and crowned on the upper floors with panoramic auditoriums. On the underground level, there is a permanent exhibition hall, at the base of the pavilion there are open atriums, and all spaces are linked by a spherical dome.

CHILDREN'S CAMP "OSTASHEVO"

Architectural planning proposals

Children’s camp “Ostashevo” is being reorganized on the basis of the existing one, located in the Volokolamsk district of the Moscow region, 90 km from Moscow.

The new reality of creating an environment for living, resting, playing and educating children presupposes a departure from the previously adopted classical Soviet norms in favor of the formation of a modern infrastructure for the comprehensive development of the child and creative self-realization.

The reorganized Ostashevo camp is designed to become an innovative educational space with a comfortable environment for all-season living and active recreation of children. The natural water-green surroundings and the location in close proximity to Moscow are the key advantages of the area.

The territory is designed taking into account the modern requirements for the formation of space for children: comfortable living areas are combined with convenient infrastructure for outdoor activities with the possibility of visiting multi-format and original educational and development programs, including outdoors. The functional filling of the territory provides for the year-round use of the space with seasonal adaptation of the program activities, consisting of the modules “sport”, “creativity”, “science”.
